⭐️Texas law now mandates that we must receive parental consent before we can meet with or instruct your child for any reason. You can find the law listed in TX State Bill 12.
⭐️If you choose NOT to give permission for all services. Your child will be removed from the classroom during these times.
⭐ ️If you choose NOT to give permission for all services, they will not be able to visit the counselor for any reason, such as dealing with death, anxiety, depression, building friendships, coping strategies, etc. If they request to see the counselor, they will be told, “no.”
⭐️You CAN mark that you consent to some but not others. For example, if you consent to speak to the counselor and counseling sessions but do not want any data from your child collected, you can specify that on the form. If you select this option, please specify which you ARE consenting to, as your child will be opted out of all others.
⭐ ️ Other options might be: You can consent but require parent notification anytime your child requests to see the counselor or there is going to be a questionnaire sent out. You may also request to see the questionnaire prior to your child receiving it.
We understand that your child’s mental health is not a one size fits all idea, so we are willing to work with you to determine what you would like us to offer your child! If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Mrs. Esquivel, and I would be happy to help you! It is your right to decide for your student, but I wanted to make sure our intentions and the form were clear.
Thank you,

Good morning,
Today high school students received a form called, “Notice of and Consent for School Counseling Services” form. I wanted to clarify a few things regarding this, as I fear there may have been some confusion.
⭐️Texas law now mandates that we must receive parental consent before we can meet with or instruct your child for any reason. You can find the law listed in TX State Bill 12.
⭐️If you choose NOT to give permission for all services, this includes College, Career, and Military readiness lessons or mental health counseling. Your child will be removed from the classroom during these times.
⭐ ️If you choose NOT to give permission for all services, they will not be able to visit the counselor for any reason, such as dealing with death, anxiety, depression, college help, financial aid for college, etc. If they request to see the counselor, they will be told, “no.”
⭐️You CAN mark that you consent to some but not others. For example, if you consent to College, Career, and Military lessons and requested counseling sessions but do not want any data from your child collected, you can specify that on the form.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to me, Ms. Weidner, and I would be happy to help you! It is your right to decide for your student, but I wanted to make sure our intentions and the form were clear.

Nosotros no podremos atenderle.
Sra. Weidner
Consejera, RCHS

Also, please be mindful and avoid blocking intersections; allow residents to use their driveways and make sure children are secured in seatbelts or car seats, as applicable. Our students safety is our first priority. We appreciate those of you that have been patient and have supported the change in making our dismissal safer for all students.

Please see the attached map for a visual of this process.
Only PreK students will be picked up through the 5th street drive beginning at 3:30 p.m. Vehicles should come from California Street.
After PreK students have been dismissed, Kindergarten students will be dismissed at the same cafeteria drive through location beginning at 3:45 p.m.
1st and 2nd grade students will be picked up “curbside” along Texas Street between the orange cones along the playground fence beginning at 3:45 p.m. These vehicles should come from 7th street and turn on Texas, traveling in front of the school.
3rd and 4th grade students will be picked up “curbside” at 3:45 p.m. along the North end of the building on California Street. Vehicles in this line should enter from 6th Street.
5th grade students will be dismissed at 3:45 p.m. from the North end of the building along 7th street and vehicles using this lane should enter from Mississippi please.
Due to the addition of multiple pick-up lanes, siblings will not be grouped together.
Also, very important!!! Beginning on Monday, August 18th, PreK students will begin their day at 7:50 a.m. instead of 8:00 since they are being released earlier. The state requires students to attend a specific number of minutes each year and this adjustment is necessary to meet that requirement.
Remember, door #5 will continue to open at 7:30 for access to the cafeteria. Other doors will not open until 7:45 a.m.
Thank you for your cooperation. We are doing our best to create a safe and efficient dismissal process for all involved.

Hello. Thank you so much for being patient with us as we work out the kinks of a new dismissal process. To make the dismissal process more efficient and as safe as possible, we are going to add more pick-up locations beginning tomorrow afternoon. We are going to begin the PreK pickup dismissal at 3:30 p.m. from the cafeteria drive. Kinder students will be picked up in the cafeteria drive beginning at 3:45 p.m. It is important that Kinder parents do not enter the drive until after the PreK has cleared so please do not get into the line early or you will be asked to leave the line. Unfortunately, since we are adding multiple locations and releasing PreK first, we will not be able to put siblings from other grades together. The lines will go much faster since there will be considerably fewer vehicles in each line and this should elevate traffic backing up on various streets. We will provide a detailed explanation and a map for everyone tomorrow morning. You will still need your temporary tags until the PIKMYKID platform is up and running and then you will get official tags. Please watch for the information and we will see you tomorrow.

We are having a great first day at RCES!
Reminder, you will need your temporary tag for pick-up today and until it exchanged for the PIKMYKID tag. Please remain in your vehicle and your child will enter your vehicle in the loading areas between the cones.
Tomorrow morning, the cafeteria door #5 is the only door that opens at 7:30 a.m. Students arriving at or after 7:45 a.m. may enter through the front door, door #11 or door #17.
Anyone arriving after 8 a.m. is considered tardy and needs to be checked into the office by a parent, please. Excessive tardies will be addressed, as needed.
Thank you for your cooperation and allowing us to be a positive part of your child's life!
