Four Reagan County Track Stars Punch Ticket to State, Break Three School Records
The Reagan County Owls are headed to Austin — and they’re taking some shattered school records with them.
Four Reagan County track athletes — Kason Brown, Nick Franklin, Chris Johnson, and Omrie Johnson — delivered electrifying performances at the regional meet, earning spots at the state competition while rewriting the school’s record books.
Senior Kason Brown lit up the track in the 200-meter dash, blazing to a time of 21.37 seconds, a new school record and one of the top times in the state. The record-breaking didn’t stop there.
The same foursome made history in both relay events. In the 4x200-meter relay, they clocked an incredible 1:29.03, demolishing the previous school record in a jaw-dropping performance. Then came another showstopper: the Owls claimed the regional championship in the 4x100-meter relay, breaking their own school record with a time of 42.73 seconds.
“One more for the record books!” the team declared after the meet, and with three new records and a trip to state, it's clear this Reagan County squad is making history.
Now, all eyes are on Austin as these four athletes prepare to represent their school — and small-town pride — on the biggest stage in Texas high school track and field.
