Reagan County Independent School District is a 3-A district in Big Lake, Texas. The District has a combined (K-12) enrollment of approximately 800 students and a staff of about 160 full-time and part-time employees.The student to teacher ratio is well below state average, enabling an immersive educational environment.
The District consists of three campuses. The elementary campus consists of an excellent early childhood learning community offering three Pre-K classes and a fully staffed PPCD program. K-5 is also housed on the elementary campus while Middle school consists of grades 6-8, and the High school has grades 9-12. The campuses are upbeat and energetic with innovative programs. All campuses offer a safe learning environment by implementing the guardian program and utilizing the latest technology in security systems. RCISD is proud of its excellent students and supportive parents.
RCISD focuses on instruction and attention to individual student needs. Teachers and students set academic goals and strive for success every day. In high school, the district offers many curricular choices including Pre-AP and AP classes, as well as, concurrent courses for college credit.
Technology is important in RCISD. Every classroom is equipped with 20 Chromebook computers and fully interactive 65" touch screen TVs. Classroom teachers emphasize technology on a daily basis in grades PreK-12.
The District participates in UIL District 3-AA and offers a full range of extracurricular activities, including academic UIL competition, athletics, band, Industrial Technology contests, and One-act play competition. Extracurricular activities are encouraged to enrich the learning experience at RCISD.
